Leaf sprung gq
Leaf sprung gq
I know they arent supposed to exist but I just saw one . I had to do a double take on it and it looks as though they have just put the gq body on an mq chasis. Looked a bit wierd like I must say
If its my mates one that he sold (and i dont think there is another in the world), yep its a gq body on a mq chassis. Have a look at the dash cause they had to modify a mq one and put it in for some reason.
It took a couple of years part time for a pro beater to do this remaking all the mounts etc when mq's were still worth a fair bit of money and the gq was only newish. It was in a bad smash he had and was bent like a banana.
I dont know alot of the details and apparently he has photos of the build somewhere.

Duct tape is like the Force,
it has a light side, a dark side
and holds the universe together.

Hey thats my old truck. Man what a flashback. It is for sure an MQ with the trusty old 3.3 in it. Tough as old boots. After a near death experience ROFL ... a GQ shell was sourced from Bayside 4X4 at Thorneside. Picked up bits from here and there, bought a couple of new GQ guards cause I couldnt find any ½ decent second handies and It was all eventually stitched together and made to look pretty. That is a keen eye to spot the springs .... good pickin there ... Things a little less obvious from end elevation is the track is nowhere near standard GQ specs .... Looks more dicky from the rear with the wheels tucked right in there, a relatively easy fix though .... and the side elevation shows that the rear wheels dont appear to be in the centre of the arch ... I made a dumb error with the tailshaft measurement that saw them sitting from memory 80ish mm forward of centre, still plenty of clearance all round for the 33's though. At the time it was a great idea, familiar running gear and traits under a relatively new boxy lookin thing called a GQ that nobody knew much about .. not sure if I would contemplate it again though .... lol .... god knows where they would be but i will see if I can dig up some pics and post. thanks Pete for the tip on the thread. Dont view Nissan pages too much nowadays ...
I,ve seen this one in Browns Plains and would not have noticed anything if I wasn't behind it and noticed the skinny wheel track look on the rear.
Cheers
