if you've undone all the bolts then nothing should be holding it in except for the gasket and some silcone...

use a bigger hammer :D :D :D

Now there is a slight bit of scoring on the crank shaft will it be ok to wack on some good condition 2nd hand bearings even though the crank is slightly scored?

its a 2F, anything will be good enough. hmm for what its worth i'd put some other bearings in and try it. how badly destroyed were the bearings? make sure that the crank shaft isn't elipsed

If it damaged then i will have an almost complete 2F(out of a 77 FJ40) next weekend

You can have the whole motor for $150 if ya want, dont know if it goes but would give you another motor to rebuild without having the truck off the road

Just a thought for ya

Cheers

Does anyone know wat price im looking at for the 12 new half bearings ?

I might just do a full swap and do the job properly.

Your not going to do the Job Properly unless you get the crank Re-Ground. But if its only slight damage you may get away with just linishing the crank. But its only a short term fix. Bearings should only be around $50. Make sure you run an Oil adative after this. Something like Slick50 or Nulon. We use Nulon in all our buggies and so far have had no problems and i run mine with no oil pressure lots. We Use the Deisel Engine Treatment as its about 1/4 of the cost of E20 and does exactly the same job. http://www.nulon.com.au/

What caused it to spin a bearing in the first place? Have you checked the Mains?
