clutches
hey bazooked
u can get a clutch built at any good clutch place to suit whatever you want.just remember to tell them that its cable operated, not hydraulic
(not sure what motor you have,is it cable operated?).

DO NOT .. repeat DO NOT get a "metal cermaic" jobber ... it sucks. I s absically abuse proof and grips brilliantly but is very on and off.
I have heard alot of good thinks about the Daikin Extreme line ..
I have had touble with clutches eversince going to the 1.6 with the 1.3 gearbox. With a new freshly gound flywheel, centreforce stage one clutch etc . I would still get clucth slippage underr heavy throttle starts pulling 33 swampers with a 4.16 t/case.

It may not be the clutch that is at fault. I noticed that the people having trouble with there clutches are running VITARA engines. The few of these conversions that we have seen that have been having clutch problems was actually that when the conversion was done the engine and gearbox were not aligned correctly which caused premature clutch failure. Just something that is worth looking at next time the gearbox is out.
There are a couple of ways to fix the problem. If you know a good engineering shop take the sandwich plate and gearbox to him and get dowels machined up that align the box correctly or buy an adapter plate which bolts between the 2 and means you dont have to weld lugs onto the Sierra box.

I got slippage with 30"s on my Vitara, but then I pulled the motor out and saw all the mud and grass in the clutch.
Adjusting the cable clutch is a pain and it's quite stiff - is there any suitable donors for hydraulic so that tougher pressure plates can be used without loss of feel?
my first 1.6 efi vitara engine had a stuffed clutch, the kit that i purchased had the holes out of alignment(like sam said)this kit cost me $400.the thrust bearing was the worst part being worn on one side.today i have just made my own adaptor plate for my second 1.6 efi.its perfect(well close as)alignment.....no more buying crappy kits for huge bucks.
