GQ Hydraulic clutch line

Post by Slug »

Burst the bloody clutch line in my `89 GQ on the weekend and started to pull the bugger apart tonight. Managed to get the line off the slave cylinder, the clip that sits almost central in the line and then work screeched to a halt .....

How the hell do I remove the flexible line from the "brass" block where the solid lines come in or is there another way I am missing altogether??

Help :D

Mine shat itself too a couple of weeks ago, fun trying to get it home driving through the city! I brought a brand new one. I thought the block/manifold were one peice and crimped onto the rubber line, I didn't think you could just remove it from the block, I might be wrong tho?

Looks like you are right berreta ... I can't see any way of splitting the lines at all  Now I cant budge the bloody lines in the manifold either .... grr What did the replacement cost and do you have a Nissan part number bloke ?

Edit ..Got the bastard off finally!! Sure looks like a one piece jobbie.

Yeah can't remember exactly, got it genuine from dealer as local brake joint couldn't get hold of that manifold, I wanted a modded one for the body lift. I remember expecting to be bent over the counter and was surprised how affordable it was.....maybe $30....I really can't remember. Will go have a look in the car for the invoice.
You got body lift on your rig? Thats why mine died, didn't bend bracket down when we did body lift.

ABS brakes made a steel braided one for me , cost about $100
i then bought some heat wrap from autobarn and wrapped it from top to bottom just to be sure.

yep, mine failed in exactly the same spot. When you get a newie, fit and maybe push the bracket down a few mm, it might be pulling it up?

The brass block is part of the hose itself--the hose is crimped to a fitting which is part of the brass block. Unscrew the 2 fittings--one that goes to the master cylinder and the other to the bleeder screw, from the brass block. The hose can become stretched when body lifting--you can bend the mount on the body slightly to relieve tension.
