Stop bigger tyres hitting leaves

Post by Nev »

looking at getting 31's soon as I can...current setup is NT, 2inch spring 1" shacks with decently offset 15x7's. just wondering what most people do to stop the tyres rubbing on the leaves at full lock. Don't really want to go to wheelspacers or larger offset rims if can avoid it...surely theres other alternatives? Oh BTW body lift kit waiting in shed if that will solve prob though im presuming this wont cure this problem. cheers

not much you can do

either go wider or limit the steerind to stop it from turning enough to hit the springs

if u limit ur steering u loose the turning circle on the zook, bodylift aint gonna fix it, u need to chop and flip ur rims.

another bolt on option - perhaps not legal - is wheel spacers.

When i had nt diffs and 31's i had rubbage issues with the springs too. I just added a washer behind the 2 bolts on the knuckles that limit the steering. Problem solved.

It's gonna limit the steering unless the track is widened, but if u limit the steering the turning circle isn't going to be any worse then with the tyres rubbing on the springs, but the tyres won't rub and wear out on the inside sidewall.

put some washers on two of the bolts that hold your knuckle wipers on, simple.

although it shouldnt rub with f100 offset rims, maybe you dont have that much offset.

Is it just NTs that rub cause on my WT I have 15 x 8s with 31inch muds and they cant reach the springs.

yeah narrow tracks have the problem

if he wants the setup as he says to limit the steering is going to have the same effect as the tyres limiting the steering on the springs

so really not going to loose all that wuch turning circle.

IMHO should just get the rims flipped or spacers or lux diffs :D

My dads zook when it had stock rims on 31"s it rubbed, but he got some 15x7 sunraysias with more offset and now they dont touch at all.

The stock suzuki rims tuck in under the car a lot more.

thanks for the help guys. what offset do f100 rims have? i'll compare to my current sunnies and see if i can get more offset that way. Also what is involved (cost wise mainly) in cutting and flipping the rims etc. cheers

Well when brand new 15x8 rims with good offset are $50 new, surley paying someone to muck around with a grinder would be close to that?

another option which is a heap of work and not neccessary on a NT (but good on WT) is to inboard the springs - move mount to the chassis rails rather than their current location - will give at least 30mm more room.

I think there must be a couple of different offsets available as I have F100 15 x8's and they have the same set back as my zook rims and yes they do rub with 30's
