Lots of front flex-Tie rod ends binding.

Post by 85lux »

i am just setting up the 5 link with hi-steer in my lux. i am swayaway racerunner airshox(16" in front) and am getting quite a lot of droop. i am worried if i make the draglink using 80 series tie rod ends as i planned, they will not be able to angle down as much as the axle wants to. anybody know which tie rod ends i could use that handle lots of misalignment???

They should be fine mate. TRE's allow for alot of misalignment.

Usually the body of the tie rod end hits the steering arm before the joint itself binds. I had mine custom made so that the top of the arms leans downward toward the wheels ie / \ but not to that extent. This eliminates the bind when the driver's side droops and the passenger's side is at full stuff.

It's also dependent on the manufacturer of your high steer arms regarding the accuracy of thier machining. If they drill the tapers too deep then the body of the joint will bind too easily.
