ok..its not really my buggy motor obviously but this is what happens when you spend a crap load of money on a $200 dollar HQ...
Motor is a 540 Cubed Dart block with Pro 1 heads...Turbo is aTurbonetics Pro Thumper. This same size turbo makes 2600hp on 5 litre engines over in the states..Thats a 6 inch pipe exiting from the turbo running into twin 5 inch exhausts all the way to the back.. These pics were taken while work was still in progress on the exhaust and the floor was cut out to make way for a custom set up moulded around the exhaust system. The complete engine fits under the bonnet and this car wil be driven on the street.
This combo is easily capable of making well over 2300rear wheel horsepower.

just to give you an idea of the size of the turbo..
shane ( the guy holding it) is 6 foot 6 and 140 kg so he isnt a small boy..
and with my puny arms i can barely hold it at all...

this thing will definiteily be street driven.. even driven to the dyno comps in our area.. will be going to Summernats this year as well (hopefully)and every car show around the country.. the idea is to win every dyno comp in the country, be on every magazine cover, drive it to the drags and straight into the staging lanes and run a low 8 maybe a 7 in street trim...
this will be the first year or so and then the car will be built more drag orientated, stronger rear end, gearbox etc, maybe fibreglass front end and will be aiming for the Pro Street number 1 title by running a 6 second pass.....
no money has been spared on this thing and the best of everything has gone into it so far and build time to date(from when we stripped the car) has been nearly 2 years.....
we will be picking the car up tomorrow afternoon to take to the fast fours and rotary jamboree ( promotional purposes) so will have some more pics up next week.....

Nice work about time someone strapped a big blower to a big block in earnest they have be doing it on small block holdens for a while now.
A few questions
At these sorts of power levels do you think you will experience crank flex, block warping or any other reliability problems?
What sort of fuel will it run on?
What does it rev to?
With the dart block is that chrysler based?
What are the dimensions(bore and stroke) of the engine?
What made you decide on the single turbo layout?
Great work its good to see someone pushing the limits. The again in the early 80's some F1 engines where macking 1500hp at the crank from a1.5 litre turbo charged v8 that would rev to 12000rpm. That a 1000 hp per litre therefore you should be macking 8800hp. Actually your probably macking the same specific output of the current F1 engines assuming you make 2700-2800 at the crank wich equals about 310hp/litre and their naturally aspirated.
Come on mate pick it up
Just kidding excellent work good luck with the build and dyno comps.
