i know on my hilux the extended shackles gave me a lot of extra flex because of the huge amount of down wards pressure they put on the springs!
they will give u extra lift if thats what u want.. or if u wanna stay the same height u can put extended shackles in and then take out a leaf or 2 to gain more flex...
by no means would i class them as a waste of money.. and anyways its not much money.. pm me and ill build u some for 50 bucks

2" extended shackles pretty much needs a 3degree adjustment in castor ..
if in doubt, get it checked out by an wheel alignment place
not ultra important, i drove my hilux round with 2 inch extended shackles for ages, then got 3 degree castor wedges and never noticed a difference, apart from visually turning the pinion back up towards the transfer again .. that was about all, wedges are cheep so thats no worries but..

I think the caster angles are have different effects on different cars... i have a 40 series and if the tyre pressures are low.... i can barely keep the old girl in the one lane when im accel hard then when i come off the gas i shoot strait over to the otherside of the lane, quite a nitemare really but it adds charactor until i get it fixed up.
and i though for every 2" of extended shackles you get 1" lift.

Ok, I think extended shackles might be the way to go. By those ratios if I ran 4" shakles I would get 2" lift. This would be good for the moment. Though, how much would this affect the castor angle.
I would really like to hear from someone running extended shackles on a 60 to find out the best combo, inside diameter of the bushes (front and back) and the width.. Remeber, I run 35x10.5x15s and a 2" body lift at the mo

I used the extended Snake Racing shackles on my 60. Great for the scrub!! Allowed the springs to flex a lot more, keeping the wheels on the ground.
Not so good for the road tho, no caster and lots of sideways flex in the shackles/bushes. Was a tad scary til I got used to it.
