60, 62 and 80 series interiors
Does any one have pics of 60, 62 and 80 series interiors? I'm trying to find the differences between the models apart from the single and duel headlights between the 60 and 62, and the rounder body shape between the 62 and 80.
cheers

Re: 60, 62 and 80 series interiors
The entire dash changed in 87 with the square headlights, the dash looks much better and is rounded. Fairly similar to the 80 series dash.Nev62 wrote:Does any one have pics of 60, 62 and 80 series interiors? 87 got the bigger rectangular rear vision mirrors, 87 they added blinkers in the fenders,
They also changed the rear bar design to a 3 piece design instead of the single piece (this may have changed earlier than 87 though)
The cloth and vynal trim (colours patterns etc) all changed in 87 and carried through into the early 80 series. All the seats are nearly the same. (early 60 late 60 early 80) except for the trims.
I will take some photos of mine tomorrow (89 HJ60)
They change a bit during the upgrade. All gauges, dash shape, etc..
Mine is (was) a standard 9/87.

The 80-84 (i think) don't have the little pics of the truck showing you the angle your driving on. Std trucks don't get a taco either. I have a std 82 and can post some pics if you like? I can also get some of a 96 DX as i will be picking up my new ride tomorrow arov!!!!!

ok.... do you know if someone put it in afer? I have heard all models have the wiring for it so it should be an easy mod. i was looking at a std 96 b4 i found the 96dx i decided on and it didn't have a taco? the DX does, but its a full size taco opsite the speedo. If Nev and others are interested i will post some pics when i get it.

I didnt think dx's in the 80 series had tacho's. As far as i am aware, pre 1994 povo packs were known as standards. Most of them were vinyl with no tacho. However, you could option them with the gxl dash with tacho, and sub fuel gauge and altimeter on the roof. The dx as a model didnt exist during this time. Post 1994, the standard was replaced with the dx. It was a povo pack with no tacho and no factory option for it. (i could be wrong) The RV spec was designed to take place of the optionable standard model.BJH wrote:ok.... do you know if someone put it in afer? Edit- Just doing some research now indicates toyota couldnt quite work out whether to put a tacho in the dx standard or not....can anyone clarify this?
You can retro fit the gxl dash into a dx, but it does require some effort. There is no tach input sensor in the dx for the tacho, so it has to be added for a tacho to work.

Yeah ok.. I am pretty sure this truck is standard from Toyota with teh interior but its got cloth seats, vinal floor. FULL Sized Tacho and Aux fuel on the roof. It is a 96 though and i was told by the guy i am buying it from that it has the last dash for the 80 series.. Would be interested to find out all these questions too!! I will post pics when i get it home tomorrow night!!!

Yep would be interested, thanks. When it comes to yotas, I'm a complete novice. Looks like I'm going down the cruiser track (almost, a couple of things are not quit like yota had intended ) just have to wait a few weeks.BJH wrote:ok.... do you know if someone put it in afer? my interior is exactly the same as the photos up above. (same colour, same everytrhing, even has the stubbie cooler on the TC shifter >_<), oh, different stereo
The tacho is the guage in the middle of the instrument clusterand since Sixty's standard 87 has one too im guessing it is origonal and not put in after.
Ours did not come with Aircon, but we did have Genuine Air fitted when we got it (by toyota).
So I guess it was only the upper models that got the angle meters (not that I could ever see any use for them). I like the idea of the tach in the centre of the dash, it seems a tad small though. Is it still clear and easy to see at a quick glance?

My interior (1984 HJ60 G pack) is the same as Joel HJ60's apart from the 4wd actuator. I don't have the button on the dash (vaccum actuation), I have the standard transfer case shifter with H2-H4 and L4.Nev62 wrote:So I guess it was only the upper models that got the angle meters (not that I could ever see any use for them). The inclinometer is not particularly useful, but impresses those that don't know any better...the tacho is easy to read.
I look at the tacho all the time. When the stereo is going how else do you know when to change?Nev62 wrote:So I guess it was only the upper models that got the angle meters (not that I could ever see any use for them). it would really suck to have a diesel without a tacho
Quite the opposite, you can just feel when it need to be changed.Shadow wrote:I look at the tacho all the time. The yota I'm getting should make it's peak at around 1700RPM with max HP at around 3400RPM. The tach is what I will be driving off a lot until I get use to the beastyjoel HJ60 wrote:Quite the opposite, you can just feel when it need to be changed.Shadow wrote:I look at the tacho all the time. Are you buying an import 12ht 60 series? The vx sahara imports have an ice maker centre console, suspension sports seats and an altimeter on the roof next to the sunroof controls, like in the 80 series gxl. Many of them also come with factory cable lockers.Nev62 wrote:The yota I'm getting should make it's peak at around 1700RPM with max HP at around 3400RPM. You'll probably find a comfortable gear change with the Chev will be at about 1800-2000 rpm, depending on load/terrain
