I’m planning to go ahead with a a rear brake upgrade for my LWB GQ TD42 (drum to disc) which would be a straight rear diff swap. I also want to re-gear to a 4.3:1 diff ratio.
My question is: are there any differences between the rear diffs of 3 ltr GQs (4.3:1 ratio) and 4.2 petrol/diesel like disks, calipers, axle shafts and diff carriers?
I’m thinking of swapping to a complete rear diff out of a 3ltr model.
Cheers
Joachim

GQ rear diff question
only difference is the diff flange size... Just need to change em over to the larger ones if you have the 4.2 engine.ozy1 wrote:i believe the diffs are the same between the 3L's and the 4.2's as many people have swapped centres for the 4.3's previously
both the 2.8 and the rb30 patrol had the smaller flanges. Only need to get the large rear diff flange and put that on the 2.8/rb30 rear diff centre and use the removed rb30/2.8 flange and put that into the front to complete the setup.
