How have you guys put long travel shocks up front on a Sierra?
I'm looking into this now and trying to figure out the best way to go. Custom hoops are cool but $$$, i'm trying to get a hold of some F100 front towers at the moment. Any other ideas????
BTW, originally I had some front towers off a 40 series cruiser I was going to use but they are going in the back
My front shock towers are a length of tube welded to a plate. The plate is then welded to the outside of the chassis, and the top of the tube has a whole drilled through it, and a high tensile bolt threaded through that and welded in place...
I know this is really late but I, well Chad, put some custom hoops on my girl. Are you able to bend stuff (getting technical here) up yourself or will you be getting someone to do it for you? That way you can put whatever size shock you want on. I currently run Koni's to suit a 'cruiser which apparently are the longest you can get for a 4x4. Though Les Siviour runs some sort of truck shock on his nissan. they cost something like $400 a shock which is cheap in off-road racing terms. Probably overkill on a suzi though.
If we can put one man on the moon, why can't we put them all there!!
I can't "bend stuff" yet but i've got one of them things what you stick metal together with
I've got no idea what travel i'm going to get out of my suspension at this stage so i holding out til i can measure that. Once I have my shock lengths i can figure out what mounts to use.
Having said this i'll probably end up using a pre-fabbed hoop like u suggested becky.
