I would like to give thanks to the GQ caliper...cos the bearing ate it...
My bus has been handling rough because I went up 4" and have about 6' of caster correction required, (booked in for next week at cheesy racing to cut and weld). Well anyway the cage for the bearings in the front right hub gave up the ghost today and boy did it destruct. the heat caused paint to flake off the rim and the hub burnt my hand...idiot I hear you say should have maintained his hubs...der says I... I just had brand new discs and and pads put on <3000km ago at which point mechanic proudly told me that it was a bit extra for repacking the hubs with grease...
Anyway I was trundling down to Yarra Glen (i live nearby) on a road that has several sustained and possibly calamitous turns. so when I got onto the main drag of YG and my bus was making severe gravel chewing sounds I knew I was in trouble I limped into the mech and pulled off the wheel to find the only reason the wheel was still attached was because of the brake calliper holding it on...phew...
And I had been about to tow my poor BMW r1150gs into town for repairs after a daft female had run me over in her Range Rover, very glad I didn't have the trailer...but am running out of registered vehicles to get around in/on.
so my question is will a gq shorty front right hub work for my LWB diesel bus???? because a mate can let me borrow his hub while i get said original mechanic to repair his nefarious work (have to find out how much the ex-handbrake paid him)
And last and not least at what stage do LWB diesel 89 starter motors' go cactus??? because mine is on the way out at 197k/km and do you swap ém repair em or get new ones budget/reliability are pretty evenly balanced here in my interests??? While I have a big hill for the roll start from home everywhere else is an issue... trying to get every stop sorted in the 5min on the turbo timer is a drag...
thanks mark
