Which should I build?

Post by Maggot4x4 »

As some of you know I have a second Rangie with a 350 chev in it, and have been wondering what to do with it.

I was thinking about a Rangie ute, but the Missus won't let me do that.

So the plan is one of the following:

1) A bobbed soft top rangie

or

2) A 100" 110 County front extra cab with a 130 defender well back.

I am leaning towards No 2 due to the extra uses it would have, but now I'm living in Sunny QLD, I can see myself in a bobbed soft top cruising Fraser.

What do you guys think?

Here is the Rangie in Question:

I would go with the bobbed soft top similar to the LRA gold one.

i have seen a 110 extra cab with a 130 well back in a pommy mag a few years ago and it looked crap. there is just too much overhang with that ute body (about 8 inches more than standard 110 sides and for the shorter wheelbase it would be worse. try and cut and paste 27 inches out of a 130 in a picture to gice it a 100 wheelbase to see what i mean. if you are going for the county body use the standard sides (not 130 well back) and cut off some rear overhang. thinking about a stage 1 would be a better donor than a county (heaps cheaper and the doors are 2 piece, often with less rust) you would get the defender bonnet, the bigger tunnel etc.

however the easiest option by far would be cutting the ass off.

I voted for the 100", but i'd say build a tray for it, the hi-cap tub (i presume that's what your talking about) would look kinda stoopid.

I have to say I really hate the softop look, it's just so wussy for a Rangie!

But a bobbed tray...   :multi:
Thanks,
