Hey all,
Have an IFS Surf that I wond the torsion bar up on. Want more lift to fit 34x 11.5 JT 2's (nearer to 35") underneath.
I know its possible to install ball joint spacers to gain more lift, or go the Supalift way $$$$$$.
Problem with the BJ spacers is severe toe-in on droop due to the change in geometry of the steering once installed. The stock steering arms droop down as they come forward of the knuckle, causing the tie-rods to angle downwards too.
I've thought of knocking some "Hi Steer" arms to return the geometry back to stock with BJ spacers. As far as I know something like this doesn't exist.
Was thinking of say 30 x 20 mm rectangular tooling steel as quality is generally better, and less chance of porosity, as its vacuum de-gassed when made. Was going to shot peen them, and radius all corners to prevent cracks occurring. Even though I studied Mech.Engineering, I'll still get it approved by a certified auto engineer before installing them.
Is it a good idea, or an I dreaming?. ANY advice on this is helpful guys.

But that's what the Supalift kit knuckle does, lift the plane of the steering arm and top ball joint up FOUR inches!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the pitman & idler arms almost mount under the chassis rail, so how can the tie rods hit them?

A super lift kit drops your diff and lower control arms down and leaves the upper control arms and tire rod ends are standard level, hence the steering knuckle is more a drop bracket for the stub axle. But that's what the Supalift kit knuckle does,
Making hi steering arms will effectivly rises your tire rods and they will hit the chassis on compression. IFS hi steer arms and lifted knuckles are two different principles.but the pitman & idler arms almost mount under the chassis rail, so how can the tie rods hit them?

Steering arms bolt to the top of the "knuckle"? (too lazy to go out and look)
Could you not make up another spacer to space the steering arm up to match BJ lift/spacer...
T6 aluminium/Plate steel spacer and some Hi tensile bolts...?
edit... having just looked at mine, my original idea wouldnt work...
