Looking for clarifacation on ring and pinions

Ok please can anyone be 100% that getting a ring and pinion only out of the rear diff of a MQ or Mk that is a H233 will fit straight into the rear diff of a GQ that is also a H233 also what modle of MQ or MK ran 4.625 ratios.Also if you can do this is the spline on the pinion the same diameter and count as that on a GQ 4.2 so that you can swap the pinion flange over
Need to no because a mate just bought a pair of centers out of a 2.8 GQ diesal for the ratios had a reputable diff place change the rear ratios over on to his factory locker but the pattern on them is crap and the diff place recons that they are warped the wrecker he bought them from now wont take them back because they have been played with so looking for a cheap other set of gears can anyone help
