yes you can just splice in a extra piece for more length. or you could make ur extra bit into a extension strap and get it out when u need it

I got 35m for nothing and can possibly get some more, but i am trying to get it in a 50m length, i think this is as long as it comes (it from a mate who works with cranes), so if i get 2 short lenghts and join them it will save me alot of money.

can you join it like ski rope and winch it all the way in. a reef style knot. both ends are spliced into loops then joined by looping one through the other. i join my ski rope like this and it is also very similar to plasma (3000lbs break).

Do a search on us plasma rope manufacture sites and you'll come up with stuff like this

http://www.samsonrope.com/home/pdf/Clas ... nd-End.pdf

From memory a fid is a tool about the length of a biro.

I reversed my plasma rope to extend the life a bit - put the frayed stuff on the drum end. It tool a while first time to follow Samson's instructions on splicing a loop, but if I can do it then anyone can.
