Your stuck with getting a Auto out of a Patrol, as no one makes adapters to fit any other Auto behide a TD42.

Talk to the boys at http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/ they will put you on the right path.

If you get one out of a GQ Diesel, its pretty much a straight swap.

Hi,
Its quite easy to fit an auto to a 4.2 diesel, ive only done it to older td42's, but the blocks are the same in newer ones.
petrol autos will fit, the only modification needed is to drill an extra hole in the bellhousing where the starter fits.
you need to buy a flexplate to bolt the torque converter to, nissan has these as an off the shelf item, was around $200 from memory. (Petrol cranks have different hole pattern, we tried that)
Our auto we used was an electronic one, but we have it wired to run as a manually selectable box so it doesnt change gears when were redlining it in a mudhole!
Give us a call if you need any questions.

Chop it drop it and big block it.
