Which engine, the L28 or P40?

If you have an L28 then a carby from 240-260Z's, 240-280C's will fit fine. If you happen to get one from one of the smaller L series sixes then you will have to rejet to suit.

If its a P40 the they have a carbie all of there own with no crossover that I know of.

As far as the 720 os concerned I dont think they will supply enough fuel for the six as it is designed for the four cylinder even though its the same design.

Whats wrong with your carbie? They are fairly cheap & easy to repair.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...

They the P40 have a very basic manifold, since you live in Europe i would fine a Webber card from a 3liter motor and make or buy an adaptor plate.

im new to the carby game

This is my first vehicel witha carby. I used to own a 280zx with a L28 so I am farmiliar with the motor, however the 280 had EFI and the carby is difficult from what I have heard.

the problem I am having is that the motor is almost non-functional here in the cold weather of germany, and it si only getting colder. also, my motor is spewing black carbon out of the exaust whenever i rev the motor, and its not just black smoke. there is actual carbon that will shoot out of the exaust and attach itself on to whatever surface is near the exaust. i was told by a mech, that I need to rebuild the carby or get another one.

any ideas?

you would probably have more luck trying to rebuild the carby you have. Just sounds like it was running rough for a looooong time.
