EOI: Rear driveline disconnect for GQ?

I have been searching for a way to do front digs with the Nissan running gear. I've been told it is not possible to modify the case to be front wheel drive only. So the other option is to disconnect the rear driveline. There are units available for Suzuki and Toyota cases but nothing for Nissan. They are based off a Remco unit which is used by the RV crowd for flat towing.

So basically, the only option is going custom, with the added costs of R&D and what not. I want to get an indication from all who might be interested in such a unit. It will not be cheap though. As a rough guide, the TrailTough ones retail for about $400 USD. But if you were at Werock, you would've seen how well digs work.

yep, i'd get one.
it should be made to mount up in place of the handbrake assembly, using the handbrake mounting holes.
doing it that way you should be able to make it so it doesn't change the length of the drivetrain.

If Nissan transfer boxes go into Rovers pretty easily, what's to stop you putting an LT230 into you're Nissan?
Besides the fact that you'd have some pommy crap in you're Nissan! :D

The huge handbrake drum of the LT230 might be a problem fitting to a GQ Dave.GQ Gearbox output shaft is fine spline--would need spudshaft to adapt to 10spline TL230 input gear.

that's a fiarly big downgrade in strength. i haven't seen inside a rover box, but the difference in just the input shaft size is fairly massive. plus the rover box doesn't give you a true front wheel drive. it is driving off the spider gears in the centre diff, so you are basically always digging in high range. (or half of your low range ratio anyway)
heard of lots of LT230's breaking, i am still yet to hear of anyone breaking a TX12A nissan case.
