Seat mount fix?

Hey,
Due to the careless people at the wreckers they have taken the old seats out with a crowbar. This has ripped the welded nut underneath through the rear mounts on the drivers side.
Would the be anything bad in buying some 75mm RHS or channel and boxing in the orig mount and welding it up and then new hole and either bolt nut/nyloc or nut welded on underneath?
I was thinking of getting some 3mm wall for this as the orig is paper thin.
