NEED HELP - 2L SWAP FOR 3L

Post by the plough »

I am in the process of swapping a 2L for a 3L in my 1984 hilux when i noticed that the fly wheel on the 3L is 50mm thicker (5cm) than that of the 2L, and also clutch is same size but different bolts holes slightly...

Is this is problem that will affect anything or will it all just fit and be nice to me??

I know when the clutch went on my 2.4Surf I had a new Clutch put in and a flywheel from a 3L, they needed some longer bolts to put it in, but it worked, apparently this is common practise with the surfs, as the dual mass flywheels aren't worth fixing.
Let us know how you go
cheers
Dan.

After going back and getting the right clutch plate we found that its thickness was smaller to compensate for the extra 5mm on the fly wheel....so basically i had the wrong clutch plate/pressure plate extra
