my wifes car is a prado. 2.7l auto. i am concidering changing to a turbo diesel but it will cost me around $15000 to do it. would it be more economical to do a conversion?
is there a conversion available for one?

It is unlikely this swap has been done or that there would be a kit for it (I may be wrong).So unless you can do it yourself you would not be able to accurately cost the job before you start. You could pour thousands into this for moderately better fuel economy,the same on road performance,and possibly on going niggling little faults that will drive you crazy,and when you sell the car you will probably not get any of the conversion cost back.
Engine swaps are more suited to older vehicles without all the electronic stuff and diesels often have different g/box/diff ratios as well.
If you really want to go diesel,and I dont blame you, trade your existing car for one thats already diesel.Youll save yourelf a lot of headaches. My thoughts anyway
