Post by hudson44 »

Does anyone know of an aftermarket electric antenna insert for an NJ pajero. Have already replaced it once about 2 months ago with a genuine insert and have bent it again today while wheelin. mitsubishi motors want $90 a pop just for the insert!

Any help would be awesome!

I replaced mine with an aftermarket electric one. It only has manual operation but the only reason the auto one was wrecked was because I listen to the CD player when driving and the head unit doesn't retract the antenna in CD mode. Now I can adjust the antenna to what ever height I want. I think it cost about $60 from Autobarn about 18 months ago.

I just replaced my antenna insert with one from super cheap (ford one)just had to use the last bit from the old antenna to make up the difference in shaft size only cost $29.00 and works like the old one. Only took a few minutes to replace really simple job. Also put in a switch so I can have the radio going and the antenna fully down just had to add it in the white/black wire going to anntenna switch ( if this wire is open circuit the anttenna will fully retract).

Chased one down using another forum. For future reference the insert part number is AP253 and costs $40 from repco. This insert is the proper mitsubishi insert and winds itself straight into the electric motor.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem!
