G'day guys ,
Glad i found this site as it looks very informative. Ive just purchased a 1974 FJ 40 soft top, which has had a hard life and im planning on breathing a bit of life back into her. She has a ford 302 cleveland engine which is in good nik, but she needs disk brakes and body work . Can anyone suggest some good places to get things for the FJ 40 ??

Front disks you can use off a hilux/60s cruiser or later model 47s,you will need to up grade the master cylinder and may need a prop valve,I`m currently doing disk front and rear on my cruiser  :D

I'd take the disc's off a 60, or 47. You can take the whole hub asembely off a 60, but you will need to have a 60 drag link(as the ball joints are diffrent). Plenty of tech stuff, just a matter of using the search button ;) Good luck mate, and welcome.

Check out page 3 on this topic " fj40 front hub assembly build up" the diff/axle housing is out of a '82 bj40 into my '73 fj40.
Old 40's last forever as long as you keep fixing the buggers...
