Extending/Longer handbrake cables

Has anybody modified the handbrake cable on a SWB Pajero (NH) to make them longer. On full flex the cables I have are like guitar strings and engage the handbrake locking the wheel in question.

I was thinking of heading down the wreckers to see if the LWB cables may be of use but would be interested to know if anyone has done this or has a better suggestion.

Cheers.

I fitted a set of LWB cables I had lying arround to mine with a 3" B/L
plus suspension lift. They are a little too long though.
For Lugs Loves Mud's paj I had longer cables made, about 4" I think and about $100 a cable from memory

Thanks J Top.

When you say the LWB cables "are a little too long though" has it created any problems or is there just too much cable under the car now?

Where did you get a longer cable made up
I need a longer cable for the Triton
I have done a 2 inch lift and cable no longer reaches the chassis bracket or lever at the rear
cheers

If the cables were 6" shorter they would be tidier, and this may affect you over the "pits" but no other problems yet although she hasn't been off road yet , only up and down the street with the H/B as the only braking system at this time

I am playing with a pair of VH44's at the moment with the idea of using them for my steering brakes in the rear and switching either the vacuum supply or feeding air pressure to the other side of the diapham for activation.

The cables were made in NZ at a specialist cable manufactuer

Blair, what we did for mine was to extend the bracket where both cables attach to (just under the hanbrake lever). This effectively moved the cables about 3" rearwards and is just enough for the flex I get.
You can get longer cables made up for about $100Ea.
I think specialist brake joints like ABS do it.

Any chance I can ask you to walk under your car and take a pic of the extended bracket setup Frank.
