I have a disco 1 and the abs light was coming after starting, appeared to be associated with a low batt voltage. It would reset with the ignition being turned off and back on. Now light on all the time, one of the batteries was totally flat, sensors appear ok no physical damage. Is there any way of resetting the warning light without going anywhere near the dealers.

one thing you might try, is going around all the sensors with a screwdriver/punch and hammer, and gently tap the back of each sensor. Sometimes they can get pushed out a little, and cause the computer to log 'airgap too wide'. If one of the sensors feels like it drops in a little bit, then the code may self test out.
84 Rangie, 3 inch spring lift, 2 inch body, Megasquirted 4.6, R380, rear Maxi, 34x11.5 JT2s. Simex FM installed.
Often caused by a sloppy CV knocking the sensor too far away from the ABS ring. The voltage from the sensor should be .2 volt AC @ 30rpm of the wheel.
I replaced both CV's to fix my ABS, but one of the replacement CV's from Paddocks England was slightly out of round and caused the same problem You could feel the ring only touching the sensor half the time and volts was too low.
Sold the car - problem solved :-)

Thanks for the advice but have already done the tap thing to ensure seating properly. But need to reset the warning light, on all the time not flashing, the bosch system has a memory function on other makes. Do discos have same feature, if so how do you reset it without going to the dealer.
