Pulling a ball joint

Post by greenhilux »

I need to pull the ball jints in my 2000 lux. I have a bal joint puller, but as yet cannot fathom how it works without raping the rubber boots. Copuld some please explain this to me, pref with a picture, it would be much appreciated.

I'm only guessing but I would have thought that needing a ball joint puller you'd replace the joints anyway. The only other way I've done it ages ago was to put a chock under that arm the ball joint was in, leave the nut on the thread and give a good sharp hit. May not be the best way but at the time it worked a treat.

i've got a ball joint puller, the one with the prong and the screw, just wondering where exactly to place it in order to save the joint and boot.
