you need to describe the symptoms a little better. There are half a dozedn pionts between your fingertips and the road where problems could occur.

Is the steering loose, or is there a 'dead' spot where you turn and nothing happens, then all of a sudden it hooks in hard? Are there clunking noises? Does the steering jam? does it shimmy? speed wobbles?

More info needed.

1st and foremost ....
check the rag-joint !!!!
(its the rubbery lookin' thing between the shaft & steering box !!)
if its torn or degraded , dont drive until you replace it !!!

your steering box is worn. Very common.

Get a replacement one from the wreckers, or local rags.
