hey all
my rangie has lately started to over heat really bad. tried to figure it out checked the thermostat its fine. the fan is clutch driven and it was buggered so we fixed that by makin it solid. it ran cool for a few days then it boiled over but out of the resevior so i think the core is shot
anyway i was wondering whats a good set up for the rangie that someone is using say thermo fans or different raidiator or even just some advice or should i just buy a new or used radiator

Have read on different sites that locking of viscos fan/units can lead to fan flying to peices at revs , don`t know first hand cos never done it but have seen the mess a fan makes when it lets go on a working unit .
I`d suggest before you recore the rad it may be worth your while to do a check for a head gasket failure , obvious sign is pressure out the reservoir and gauge reading high .

Re: radiator problems
Get the radiator cleaned out - if you pull it out and take it there it should cost less than $100 - any car over 10 years old should look at having that done was they will be all clogged up.ranover wrote:hey all

The fans work fine as long as the rad is up to the job, check the operation of the viscus coulped unit - dont lock the hub with a screw as it will disintegrate as it is not designed to run a full RPM with a locked hub
