New to the site. Help! fuel pump 80 series.

Post by lost in da 80's »

Have just joined, what a cool site! Got a 93 4.5 80series and the fuel pump has kacked itself! Did all the workshop manual test to confirm this, new pump is on its way, however got some concerns as to what caused the death. Tested the fuel pump resistor and it read 1.3 ohms and book says it should be .73, also the supply to the pump reads 5.8 volts and I would have thought it is a 12v pump. Could any of these caused the pump to RIP or am I stressing unnecessarily?? Mechanic at Toyota could shed no light on query and had a care factor of 0. :?
