80's service time ?

Post by guzzla »

hi all, my '97 mod 4.5l petrol, manual cruiser has just ckicked over 160,000km.

while i change the engine oil every 5-7k and diff and gearbox every 10-15k and try to replace parts b4 they actually do break, does anyone have any info as to what may be the next major item to shake my wallet dry.

The gearbox has started to feel ever so slightly notchy in 2nd / 3rd but thats all ive noticed however i have this rather nervous feeling that something rather major is up for renewal - it may be that the car has never let me down and all good things must come to an end ....... or do they? :?

any ideas much appreciated, ta.

Hey, Got a 93 petrol and service it every 10k. Now has 250k on the clock. Havent had many probs with it (touch wood!) appart from disposable items like alternator, starter etc. I havent driven an 80 yet without a notchy G/B, so that is an inherent prob. However, you can do an oil change and put morey's or the like. Have a search cos there should be a thread on this with the 80s box. Hope this helps...
