Will this zook pump be enough for a 80 Series Steering Box

Post by TWISTY »

Started stripping down the zook to get it ready for pretty much a full rebuild with Airshocks and 37's.

I've got a 80 Series Landcruiser power steering box to go on it, and was wondering if the pump that I'm currently using with the Vitari Steering box is going to be enough to use with the Cruiser one? A pic of the power steer pump is attached.

Thanks for the info Duncan......sounds like that is the pump to get then......

I'd still like to know but does anybody know if my current pump will work or not? if its not going to, I will sell my whole power steering as a kit, rather than just the Vit P/Steer Box by itself??

i have the vit pump running an 80 series, or maybe 60, but it will work.

it works well on rocks with lux diffs welded and 37"

try it and see, you have the pump already. you may need line made though.
mine also has an oil cooler in there too. if you have a spare one chuck it in too!

enjoy ashley

Sweet, thats what I wanted to here, thanks Germo!!!

And yep, deffinetly need custom power steer lines, have already tried the Vit fitting, and they aren't even close to the 80 series ones.

for the relatively low cost it maybe worth looking at the saginaw pump for a few reasons:
- easier to get spares anywhere
- cheaper to replace
- from memory, larger resivor
- you'll get more for a Vit power steer kit rather than a box on its own as well

And yes, while you're getting new lines made be sure to install a cooler for the steer fluid.

mmmm....ok, that makes sense.....

So,

Roughly how much would my current power steer setup be worth? (Vit Pump and Steering Box, Custom Steering Lines to suit a Seirra) ??

Duncan mentioned that the Saginaw pumps are around $130ish new, where abouts from? Ford Dealer? Repco, Auto 1 etc, or other???

any info would be great, thanks!
