EGR... do i need it.

Post by DrCarlo »

I popped the bonnet of my zook and found two things.

a. The water bottle was missing.. hrm will sort that out.

b. The hose that connects the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve was broken.

So on the intake I took out the valve and blocked off the holes (will replace with pipe shorly)

On the exhaust side its currently just got whats left of the house pointing out the bottom of the car (ala screamer pipe).

Questions..

a. Do i need the EGR for the car to run properly (Emissions issues aside)
b. Anyone else blocked this off.. how did you do it?
c. Is there a valve in the exhaust which opens to direct exhaust to this? I didnt notice much coming out of the hose.

Cheers.

the hose from the exhaust manifold only sucks the warm air off the manifold it doesnt suck the exhaust gasses......its not realy needed just gives the motor warm air iff your in a cold climate.....so take it off completely iff you want
