40 Series Intercooler questions

Post by Fire »

G'day All just thinking about saveing me money and installing Intercooler kit myself and getting ( Dyno later) wondering if anybody knows of prolbems about installing Intercooler .Also what Radiator sizes and lines...am running a Toyota 1981 BJ42 3B Diesel Garrett water-oiled cooled -Turbo ....im running around 10.5 to 11.5 psi boost

Was reading post by cruiser075 he said
(The main reason for the intercooler is to allow higher boost pressures to be run while keeping the air going into the engine cooler and more dense, so more fuel can also be pumped into the cylinders while keeping the fuel/air ratio correct which in turn = more horsepower, but on a stock diesel only running around 7.5 to 8.5 psi boost the intercooler isnt really required)................
my question is, by turning up fuel' for more power, Do you still get better fuel economy ?.... or by not turning fuel up ,...would you get more fuel economy from turbo- intercooler..what'%
