Wiring Up Spotties - one little issue....

Post by dank »

ok guys today what i thought was going to be a quick half hour job turned into an all afternoon nightmare...

I just swapped some 150mm hellas from my x-trail to the zook and put some 175mm narvas on the x-trail. I used the existing wiring on the x-trail for the new lights and used the new wiring from the narva kit for the zook.

I wired it up exactly as it shows in the diagram but was completly stumped when it came to the spot light switch to high beam active wire. I couldn't find it....i pulled the steering wheel and lights wiring setup off and the instrument panel trying to look for the one bloody wire that is only working when the high beams are on. This is for a legal spotty setup....

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Anyway i need HELP!!!

Cheers in advance

all sorted....i did a bit of a search and found a post by eff(?) thats makes heaps of sense.... for anyone doing the job soon here it is...

"This is actually quite easy to do. Find the Relay and there should be 2 pins on there which actuate the switch in the relay (generally labled 85 and 86). You must find the 2 wires from the back of the headlight which are the highbeam (+) wire and the earth (-) run them from the headlight to the 85 and 86 pins on the relay.( Here you must cut the + wire and run a switch off it to be able to disable the use of the spotties even when highbeams are used. There is a pin on the relay normally labled (30) that is your load wire so run that from your battery to your relay (make sure to put a fuse in line with that wire). Then finally there should be 1 or 2 pins labeled as 87 this is where the + wire from both your spotties connects to the relay. There should also be a negative wire from the spotties which can just be connected to any good earth on the 4wd. This should help you I hope luckly for you I had a Narva relay kicking around on the computer desk (dont ask me why) "

cheers
