Plastic Cap?

Post by CHOPS1 »

Just wondering if anyone has removed the black plastic rectangle cap at the base of the targa bar on the outside of the car(sierra), mine are looking shabby and thought i would give em a spray. But didnt know if they are bolted on or just pull off from the outside?
any help appreciated.

There are two little black plastic studs, I personally ripped them off, as I know of people who have had to replace their targa bars due to rust forming under these things. They serve no purpose. If you were to pull them off and respray them, I am not sure how you would re-attatch them.

My panle beater said the two studs need to be replaced for new ones if you take the plastic thingy off.

He just fixed a couple of rust holes there for me.

I ripped mine off, and found a fair bit of rust uner there.....so I just covered it up with some checkerplate.....looks better than the plastic crap.

Yeah i pulled myne off, and when i did it snapped the little studs off the back. There was a bit of rust under there. So i cut out the rust, painted it up and siliconed the plastic bits back on. Checker plate ones sound like a good idea!
