rear main fix?

hey can someone give me some advice on how to takle replacing the rear main seal, i know the tranny comes out and all that but do i require any special tools or anything and any tips to make em last longer!

From memory when you remove the box, then remove the clutch and flywheel. You will see the rear main seal and its housing plate. Just un-bolt hte housing plate, remove the seal. clean the area down, fit new seal to housing then re-fit it. As for lasting longer, take care when you fit it, smear a light amount of grease on its edges so it doesn't catch or tear when you push it into the housing plate. keep oil changes regular and use good oil. All oil seals will eventually leak, its just normal.

DON'T remove the end plate....
you'll just cause another oil leak, just pluck the old seal out with a screwdriver, clean the area down and then install the new seal, but make sure to lubricate the inner race of the new seal for initial startup to save the new seal from damage, while your at it, also check if your clutch has been contaminated from the oil leaking
