Hi guys,
My mate just bought an old Toyota Crown from a dude in canberra,
he wants me to go pick it up for him.
The thing is, these cars weigh like 1500kgs!!!
Would the hilux be up to towing a crown on a car-trailer from
Canberra to Sydney??
I got a 1989 model single-cab with a 22R carbie 2.4L motor.
Would this put alot of wear on my precious gear-box??
I've heard luxie boxes are pretty weak under heavy loads is this true?
Please post up your experiences with hiluxs and towing large loads for
long distances.
I'm worried the old girl will not like this treatment at all with 400K+ on
her.
Cheers,
Bart

Question about Hiluxs and Towing stuff
The Lux is back. New and Improved v2.0!
I'll probably try and avoid towing this car with the hilux.
might try and find someone with a flat-bed who can do mates rates on
transport of a car. Anyone know anyone cheap??
I thought that even though the car weighs in at 1550 kgs
that is the dead weight of the vehicle,
rolling weight would be alot less yeah?
I can't lift 1800Kgs, but I can push the hilux a few Metres easy
that sort of thing.
Anyone know the maths/physics of this rolling weight thing??
Cheers,
Bart

loaded up on a float and you're looking at closer to 2500kg.Toyo Truck wrote:

I've never towed with a hilux, but with a hiace loaded to 14-1500, it gets veeerrrryyy slow, so at 2500 i think you'll be pushing every part of it
can't tell you the exact physics of dead/rolling weight, but all vehicle towing capacities are for loaded weight on a trailer. so the lux might move 1500kilo of car, but it certainly won't move 1500kilo of giant cement block in the middle of the road
