Auto Hubs, Clicking Sound and no FWD.

Post by threeofnine »

Hi, I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

Car: Suzuki Vitara SWB 97 2.0EFI Inline 4

I currently have Auto Hubs, and have always had a clicking sound that used to appear during very heavy load of the front wheels, eg really soft sand, and getting stuck where the front wheels are taking a lot of torque.

The noise has now increased, the front hubs engage, but under any amount of force, they disengage, with a clicking sound. I can emulate the problem just by holding the tyres when the car is on stands.

The problem got bad when I was at Stockton last week, and got a few hundred meters in from Lavis lane, when I turned around because of the problem. I did not make it all the way back to the dirt, before the front wheels would no longer engage, and continued to attempted to engage themselves, but refused to do so with a constant clicking sounds.

I am not sure what the real problem is, it could be the diff or a CV, but also could be the hubs.

Has anyone else had a similar problem or have an idea on what the problem might be. If the problem be the hubs, I will be replacing them with manual ones.

Thanks.

your hubs are full of crap
you can clean them or put some manual hubs on instead that will cure the problem once and for all

I think you should have pulled them off a long time ago and cleaned them.

Experience is something you don't get, until just after you need it.
