can anyone tell me the tire size for a tyre say the equivilant of a 33 inch? im looking to put something onto a 15 inch rim so....is it 285/35? i know that is a fairly skinny tire.....just want to know wat is the biggest i can go on my 15x7 rims

Look up a tyre chart on a manufacturers website e.g. Mickey Thompson or BF Goodrich. You'll soon work it out from there.

235/85/16 is indeed a skinny tyre. Can't say I've ever seen a 285/35 on a 4WD though, that would have some bling ;-)

I think you mean a 285/75, but AFAIK that is only a size that comes in 16" ie 285/75/16 which is equivelant to a 33" diameter tyre. For a 15" rim with 33" tyres i think you will need 8" wide rims. Check a trye manufacturer and see what rim width they will fit.

33" 10.5" r15 BFGoodrich mud, 33" 10.5" r15 jungle trekker or just run 33" 12.5" on the 7" rims they fit fine

Most tyre joints wont mount a 12.5 inch tyre on a seven inch wide rim. They are not legally aloud too. Some still may do it for you but there not meant too.

You are correct, most around home will put them on though, but they drive fine and iv'e ran numerous sets.

Well i had a very well known 4wd shop mount 10.5" swampers on 5.5" rims.I've never had a problem.....
