Rear slider windows crappy, Can i convert to solid MQ window

GQ lwb rear slider windows are crappy and rusted.
Been told that i can use solid rear MQ lwb windows to put in instead of sliders?

Any truth in this?

I think its the pov pack GQ LWB ones non slider you can use.

There was a place in perth that did aluminium replacements wonder if they're gonna do a new batch.

I have an 89 LWB GQ and have just gotten myself a set (rubbers and OEM Nissan Windows) of the one piece windows to fit. From memory these came from the DX LWB. The lower spec ones did not have the sliders.

I got mine from a bloke on Overlander, for roughly $400.00 shipped (adelaide to sydney)

The rubbers are in excellent condition, almost new and the windows even have a pretty good tint on them.

All the Marine places either dont make the GQ LWB anymore, or they charge $200 per side for the frames.

The sliding windows are good, you can get into the inside storage from the side if you have them (storage thing over the wheel arch inside). Thats where some keep recovery gear.. can be handy, but in reality doesnt matter.

The rubbers and frame are all in 1 piece ready to go in on the sliding ones - No glass at that price, I got several sets for people last year. Still have one at home to do myself

There is a marine place in Milperra Shitney that make em up, $550 a pr.. Some people have gone with them, why I dont know. The updated OEM ones will last another 10year+ which is more time than any of us will keep out rigs anyway.

There was a group buy from some place in WA while back on frames too, cant remember details.

The WA place does not have any more LWB sliders, and were running out there stock on the SWB ones when i enquired. They had no plans to make any more. These were the best option as they were direct copies of the OEM sliders, but in aluminium.

The ones from Milperra are not direct copies (spoke to them as well) so not quite the best fit.

The new OEM ones have a drain hole in them now, apparently thats the only difference.

I have never had a need to get into the back through the window (yet) but prefer the one piece windows, horses to courses..

they are also heavier metal, lined both of my others up when I replaced the other one. Newer was much heavier.

Keeping the drainholes clear is harder but needed. thats what caused the rust in the OEM ones.

Maybe make the drainholes bigger before you fit the glass? Or add extra drainholes?

yea good thinkin, but there are no drain holes in the original ones (well none i could see thru rust), and the drain holes in the updated ones arent huge, but they do work when ya hose down the car.
