I've bought a cheap runabout that has had a little tap in the back and I need to pull the body straight. Has anyone attempted this booty style as in the backyard between two trees with a winch type of booty style???

I've organised a new tailgate and bar but need to pull the rear panel backwards about 3-4 inches...

Any advise?????

Done the 2 trees trick with a winch on several occasions and it works a treat........
Prior to getting a winch however it was a tad "ordinary" to do this work ..... reverse a tad , stop , check, reverse a tad , stop check...... opps too far !

hey chuck
hows it going

ive used a second vehicle to pull sheet matal back into place.
by rolling it away from your car having it tired to your damaged panel work. works a treat

if your using a hand winch. try applying a bit of heat onto the kinked folds of sheet metal. while your winching it out
by eather hand held gas torch or oxy

just a thought
let me know if you want me to drop around to lend a hand

Can't get in behind with a hammer and tease the creases out - working from outside in?

If not, I'd prefer to use a winch - you have a little more control when there's no huge momentum involved.

Remove the bumper and see if its a plastic cover over a pressed steel shell, straighten the steel and fit back together. Or just get a 2nd hand bar and tailight and leave it at that.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Kicked most of the rear panel straight. Spare wheel probably saved much more damage. Will try the chain to tree and cars momentum thing tomoro to get the floor back to where it should be....

if you can get behind it use a bottle jack and a piece of timber......

this is what i did on Meteor a few years back. The timber will spread the load and not create new dents to have to fix as well

remove the rear bar, cut the quarters and replace with tube bar :D
