long story short: went to glasshouse and f'ed my car on the weekend
u can read some of the problem on my other post: THERMOFAN

called up the mecho sunday arvo to see if it was possible to get car in on monday. get a call monday morn sayin bring it in (THANK F**K!!!) luckily i had an rdo so i didnt need the car.
i tell the mecho plz just get it good enough so that i can drive it work for the rest of the week oh and sorry for the dirt

this is the cost of my weekend:
rear wheel bearing kits $110x2
rear brake shoes $66
RH wheel cylinder $38.50
LH wheel cylinder $38.50
2nd hand fan hub assembly $88
tranny case seals $16.50x2
tranny oil $11x2

plus labour he only charged me for 3 hours so that was sweet
he also tells me that both hubs are almost gone and something else was leakin(i forgot what)
oh and he tightened my hand brake down to 3 clicks

Is this on a Feroza? Doesnt sound to bad, better then my $3000 rebuild after a trip to the mudpits at nerangba

Im told my brakes are shagged so thats going to all need replacing soon. Im never going near mud again hey.

Those wheel cylinders you refer too, which bit is that? Im definately up for rear brake shoes and some other part in the rear brakes, I think he said new cylinders. That seems like a good price, got any part numbers?

Surely you cant have buggered all that stuff in one day, must have been on the way out for a while! The list of parts I need replacing is probably worth more then the car, once again another good purchase by me! Not!! Really starting to dislike the Daihatsu.

x2 on what the hell wheel cylinders are? Are they the bits taht the brake shoes push up into?

And a tip from my mech/friend, with drums, when you go through mud/dirt, it gets trapped in there and later when it dries and you brake, it acts like sandpaper on your shoes , so after a good 4x4 run, take the 1/2 hour to pull em off and hose/blow them out. Will save you sum coin. Also, i havent done this yet but want to, you can grind/drill a smallish hole in the bottom of the bit that the brake shoes push onto, so that alot of the mud/dirt can drain out before it dries up

cylinders = hydraulic bit in the drum brake that forces the brake shoes onto the drum.

At least that's my interpretation of it!

Wheel cylinders are a lot cheaper (and going by some of their other prices, they aren't a cheap place to buy from....)
