Pajero Body Dust Seal Missing

Post by sambo2222 »

My parents have a new GLS Pajero (05). Very nice indeed. First trip out west in the bull dust was cut short due to the vehicle filling up with dust. Back to Misubishi dealer in cairns for waranty. Appears there is a dust seal for the body that is not fitted and is an optional extra!!!!!!!!!! After an absolute flat spin around the office they agreed to fit it. Took 3 days to fit. Had to remove complete interior including dashboard. Now car is just over 1 year old and full of rattles. Screws fall out at random from under the dash. Parents not happy campers. Has this happened to anyone else?

Dust sealing in Gen 3 Pajeros is a well known problem (possibly NP more than NM - I'm not sure.) You'll find much more discussion of it on the Pajero Club Forum.

From memory: The "dust sealing kit" was "released" as a retrofit, but I thought it became standard on factory models too. Perhaps it's more recent than your parent's model (was it built in '05, or "MY05" - probably built 2H04?) Three days to fit sounds familiar. Falling apart afterwards does not sound right.

If the dealer isn't prepared to make good I suggest contacting MMA Head Office and ask for them to do something. And start putting everything in writing.

Good luck,

Scott

Sounds like something that I would do when I take the dash apart, a half ass job, but I don't pay myself.

I would tell them to fix it!!!
