ARB compressor under seat, or in engine bay??
Im getting dual ARB's fitted on Thursday, but have heard alot of different opinions on whether to mount the compressor under the seat or in the bay.
So where does everyone keep theres??

I agree with the in cab idea. Mine is only a crappy one, but it wouldn't have lasted this long if it wasn't for being mounted inside on the o/s/r wheel well. You only have to look at the dust that accumulates on your dash after having one window down for a couple of hours in the bush... now why would anyone then locate them under the bonnet... these days there tends to be more mud in my engine bay than car... but only just!
p.s. Dumbdunce... you know what ARB had to do when bad publicity came their way after the strap test in 4WDmonthly... Is team special engineering trying to run them out of business

I have mine mounted in my tray, in a tool box style set up.

Compressor Mounting
My compressor is mounted on the C-pillar is the back of my Rangie. Yeah its noisy but it very high and very easy to get to for inflating tyres. If you have a rear locker its easy to get the air line to it as well. Another benefit is that if you are going to run power to the back you can use it for other acc.
I tend to agree with dumbdunce, if you can dont buy an ARB CRAPpresor, if it is coming with the lockers then fit it in the cab. I have a bigred which sat under the bonet of my 80 for 4 years and another 3 1/2 under the bonet of the GU, still going, it has the filter removed and an airline tapped into the air intake after the cleaner.

Seriously just go to Autobarn and buy their $149.00 one and then go to Ideal electrical and buy a clear topped electrical box and mount the compressor in the box in the engine bay, drill a hole and add a breather with a filter on it.
Will easily last as long as an arb and be heaps cheaper.
If you need a small tank go to the truck wreckers or get an old fire extinguisher.

err no? what did ARB do about the straps comparo?
the $149 (regularly $98 on SPECIAL) supercheap/repco compressor is perfect for lockers, with or without a tank. MQ080 post some pics of your setup, I have to pull the seat to make a good pic of mine :P

I have Bushranger Max Air combined with alloy air tank mounted behind back seats in Patrol wagon, very fast pump. A 35' simex from flat to 30 psi in 10min, not bad & has big warranty. I know someones brother who had his under the seat when he got water in the car the pump sucked water into the lockers hmmm not happy JAN!!
id go in cab phil. under you drivers seat if it can fit.... so that you can get the air line out to you tyres easily and don't have to worry about putting the bonnet up everytime you want to pump up your tyres. should see if nick can use a different type of compressor, maybe an endless air or big red....

That was in the old truck, new truck has 2 bilge pumps.

Robbo you got pictures of this mounted behind the seat. I have a full length barrier that runs in front of the drawers it come with it so I didn't chuck it for a 3/4. I have a Max Air as well at this stage can't be arsed to mount it.
Only thing about the Max Air I don't like is the Hose my guage stopped working after two uses

Note we striped the base plate & Bushranger outlet, new more standard outlet on air tank along with two locker solenoids & inlet from pump. Also cut out switch fitted & the inflation hose fitting has a cut off in it so when you remove it from tyre valve pressure switch shuts off pump. Very simple & out of the way. To attatch inflation hose you need only to recline seat back & pump master switch is in console. Added bonus is it frightens the crap outer backseat passengers when lockers need more air. he he he

Prolly wont put lockers in the GU but I like the mounting method what are the parts specifics for the cut off and could it be setup with cutoff with just air out of the compressor. Airtank is maintained at what pressure. Would prolly not fit a tank.
I dont think it would fit under the front seats but I still think I could work around the barrier by putting it behind it. there is a pretty big space in there I was toying with either a water bag or the compressor.
