snorkels and LPG

Post by dinos4x4 »

OK i have my 100series 4.5 on LPG and i am having problems trying to stop it stalling when u back of the throttle because of the snorkel

i have heard of poeple using a balance line going from the air intake to the back of the converter

i have done this but maybe its in the wrong spot

i have got the balance line connected in the air intake just b4 it hits the air cleaner housing

I dont know if it helps but i have spoken to people with LPG cruisers one had a 4.5L and one with the 4.7L V8 and they had turned the snorkel head around so it faces towards the rear of the vehicle, dont know what it does but apparently they were advised to do it.

This might be a dumb idea but what about a more restrictive (not too much though) air system? The idea being that the air being sucked into the snorkle will build up some velocity and when you throttle off it takes a bit to slow down and so leans out the mix untill it stalls.

What about a prefilter at the top of the snorkle?

Just a thought and probably not right but you never know.

I had the same problem with my 80 Series, I had a balance line fitted between the air filter housing and the viewable side of the converter. Once this was done the system then required a retune, It now runs sweet.

Same problem here, I just Ran a balance line See Pic's attached. Been great since. Simple things are hard to find, pulled my hair out for a week trying to figure it out why it was cutting out.
