double cardon or not

Post by killalux »

i am possibly putting twin cases in my lux soon and just want to know if i will need a double cardon joint in the rear or not? it will have about 3" of lift and probly 2" drivetrain lift.
also can i still use my forward shifting case as the reduction section and use a top shifting case as the rear case? it has a w52 5 speed gearbox
cheers

You wont need a DC joint. Thats only realy something you need in a 4runner or short bed 1st gen.
You can use your T-case as the reduction.
I can get you a top shift case at the right price.

Some times when going to a one piece you will get away with no cardonal joint.

When I changed I tried it with no joint first and I had the vibs thing pritty bad. So I then put in a cardonal and all is sweet now :D

I should be home working on my junk.

Rear shaft needs to be custom. I tried a few others but non are the right length.

My T case was lifted 70mm due to how bent the Snake Racing crossmember was and i had no vibes without a DC joint but my diff is also back 1.5" not that i think that makes a real difference.

If both flanges are at the same angle then you shouldn`t get any vibs. My rear diff has been rotated, so it is at a different angle to the flange on the T case.
