brake drums on 78 fj45

Post by brentlee »

I have a brake problem on fj45. Cant keep a hard pedal. Any idea how to get the rear drums off so i can check the wheel cylinders. The manual says to remove retaining screw on drum but i cant find one. one drum has a couple of threaded holes in the face of the drum and the other has none. Any help would be appreciated.

cheers

screw acouple of bolts into the threaded holes as this wil push the drum off. You may have to back you brakes off first.

Aaahhhh! the light goes on. many thanks. bit dark now but ill get the drums off tomorrow. cheers

problem is i have pedal after a couple of pumps and then if i leave my foot on pedal it slowly drops. i have swapped the master cylinder for one i know works. there are no leaks i can see. i just need to get some more brake fluid so i can bleed them again and see how we go. any one got any ideas or am i missing something simple.

cheers

If the master cylinder is good then it sounds like wheel cylinders for sure.
