How did it go?

well , it ended up 5th overall

had MANY probs to sort , especially with the rear steer making life very difficult because it was wandering around etc ( setup the way the instructions said to etc )
sat arvo was all changed n got responsive steering etc so it improved

did also get engineering 1st
and a few other things

AND
its NOT a tube buggy

its a bushrangie with a good cage setup , so the body can b easily removed.........to become a dual purpose vehicle n prob run in buggy comps

and it only had maybe at most 3hrs testing prior to tuff truck

I was very impressed with this car.
Watching it Sunday it did the tracks so effortlessly and the driving was spot on.

Good to see something other than a 40 series!

Looks great. Can't be much bush rangie body or rr chassis left on it though. Not that that matters.

this was the most awsome rover based thing i had ever seen. The workmanship and engineering has lifted 4x4 comps to another level. A very well deserved first place in engineering.

as for not being a tube buggy, well i reckon its borderline, as the chassis has been completely re shaped (still box section). Tube buggy, doesnt always mean round tube :D

Cool thing, even though I'm not a big fan of that plastic.

However, the axles aren't genuine Unimog 404-axles, rather a Rover/Toyota-hybrid, with 404 portal boxes. Any specs on this?

the portals dont have any rover or toyota bits , otherwise they'd break

theyre unimog portals with nissan centres n custom axles

gives a much better pinion length

So, they are heavily trussed, re-tubed Nissan H233-centersections, with 404 outers? Cool!

another amazing feature of this rig is that the under body armour is lined with teflon sheeting. i have never heard of that before.

dont think i could afford it tho

i just watched the progress n helped out etc , was a long drawn out build tho , and long hrs to get it finished

i was lucky enough to do a bit of work on this car a few weeks ago and get a good look through it.
matt is an artist, some of the lateral thinking involved in fitting everything into this car is unbelievable.

they r special import from the states

rockcrawling series , i think 17inch travel from memory ( very restricted n bump stopped in the front with the body on )
