Vitara Problems

Post by rocknferoza »

My mum has a 95 V6 vitara.

1st problem: The power steering is making a noise . Sounds like a vibration or something and u can feel it in the steering when it makes the noise. seems 2 happen when turning right.

2nd problem: The engine has been cutting out for a long time but it only does it every now and then. Only does it when your driving slow or coming 2 a stop and it starts easy like theres not a problem. Our local suzuki checked it on there computer and couldn't find anything wrong :bad-words: :bad-words:

Hope someone can help us out.
thanx

1) Fluid levels?

2) Possible leak in the inlet or exhaust. If the computer has been checked so the injection and electonic controls are ok then these are the likely points for a problem.....

Mum only had it serviced a few weeks ago so i don't think it would be a fluid level problem but i'll look tomorrow

Hey James, air in the power steering system can cause them to make noises, as can low fluid levels.

Supposedly you can bleed the air out by warming the car up and then turning the wheel from lock to lock 15 odd times slowly, but continuosly without stopping. Could be worth a try.

I recently thought the PS pump had gone (noisey, grinding etc) in the wife's Excel- the noise even stopped with only the power steering pump belt off- but it turned out the water pump bearing was gone.
